I don't get to cut stencils as much as I'd like to, its enormously time consuming so I was pleased to see a recent one made its way to its new owner safely. This is Walter, as you can see he is over the moon with his new piece of art.
Check out the Puglaw stencils here. A year or two ago I was commissioned to do a stencil of a Schnauzer in a propaganda style similar to the kind of stuff Obey did. Because of the way it came together I needed to use a lot of layers and the paint got thick and heavy and I was never really happy with it (not that I'm ever particularly happy with anything I produce). Anyway I thought at the time I would revisit it, try again but this time a little more in my style and as 2014 is the year I catch up and finish old projects here is a few shots of the finished cut stencils. As usual it's been too long since my last blog update...check out my Facebook page for more regular updates however in the meantime here are some pictures of 3 of the layers from the big A1 size Schnauzerganda stencil.
A quick update on an unusual commission for a pet portrait. An Obey style poster of Pepper the Schnauzer. Started with a line drawing. Made a few alterations Coloured in the black layer. Here's my desk looking busy, you can see I've started the second layer. Top left is the original brief. Finished colouring in the second layer. Finally scanned the picture above into Photoshop so I could get the outlines and print it off A1 size. Just the cutting and spraying to do now.
